Pink Lakes and White Butts- August 4, 2019

Most people on the tour woke up early to swim with the sea lions. I chose not to since we all know I have an irrational fear of the water and I want to save my fear concurring conquest until later on in the trip. The rest of us who didn’t go got to sleep in a bit later. We were told to be ready to go by 9:30 AM. We were so on point and had the trailer packed, everything cleaned and ready to go by that time. We waited… and we waited… and then waited some more. 10:45 AM rolls around and we FINALLY see Daisy driving our way but no one was in it other than Cam. He informed us he left the rest of the crew at a bakery. This made me happy because it meant I could get a proper coffee when we pick them up. He also apologized for being so late. But apparently as they were showering on the boat after their sea lion swim, they spotted dolphins so jumped back in to swim with those as well. Fair enough. It sounded like a really cool opportunity.

After getting a yummy latte and picking up the rest of the crew, we drove to St. Gorges Beach, in Bluff Point where we stopped for lunch. It was a beautiful view to have a little hang out and lunch. The lunch menu was the same as yesterday. Apparently wraps will be the lunch menu for the whole trip. I quite like them so I was happy, but not everyone felt the same way about eating the same thing everyday.

Our next stop was something I’ve been wanting to see In Melbourne for months! A pink lake!! I had no idea there was another one in Port Gregory, Western Australia but I was very excited. At some points the pink was a bit faint, but in other spots it was a bright pink color that seemed like a watercolor painting.

A completely unedited picture of the gorgeous pink lake.

It was gorgeous and just one of this world’s amazing natural treasures. The Daisy Crew were having a great time taking photos and then things got turned up a notch. We learned that Declan, Dec for short, really enjoys taking his clothes off. And so he did and got in the lake.

We then convinced the other guys around to do the same. I had a blast taking pictures of their pasty white asses and laughing with everyone.

By the time we did this little naked photoshoot most of the group had already headed back to the bus. The rest of us followed suit but apparently we took too long. I was the first of the slow group to get on the bus and the second got on the stair, Cam started driving away leaving the rest of the slow group behind. I was so confused. He drove us down the road to the toilets and went back to pick up the others afterward. He thought it was hilarious.

We then headed to lucky bay for the night. Once we set up our tents, we went on a little maze to find the beach to watch the sunset. Unfortunately it wasn’t a great one but we all still had fun hanging out, having a dance party, and even playing a bit of limbo using two peoples arms as the height pole. Our drinks ran out after a while so we headed back to camp. This trip is all about teamwork. When we got back a few people offered to cook the chicken and pesto pasta dinner, while a few other people searched for firewood and built the fire. I was on fire building duty today. It felt like I was back at KSA during College Games Rope Burn all over again; Hunting for the perfect pieces of wood (or maybe even a dead Christmas tree circa 2006) and burning your fingers just to make the perfect fire.

We sat around the tables and campfire drinking and playing beer pong and “Green Glass Door” which in Germany I’ve learned is called “Supermarket”. It was fun to play with a large group who had never played it and reminisce about the many times I played it with my Miami Gymnastics teammates while driving to meets.

We’ve all only known each other for two days but already you can just tell we have a pretty special group. We all get along and are all just here to enjoy life and drink way too much alcohol.

Until next time.

Catch me if you can…
